How to Properly Display the American Flag

Frequently the American Flag is held on its perimeter and waved as wind would blow. This flag is held horizontally . And, why is the flag appliqué sewn on military sleeves so the stars are on the right?
Hi, Cindy: Technically, the display of such flags horizontally is not proper, but it's important to remember that it's the thought that counts. And, Old Glory is sometimes displayed "backwards" on right arms to replicate how the flag would look if the wearer were charging into action. Thanks for asking!
Is it Improper to have the flag on clothing or beach towels?
I will be hanging my American flag, Army flag and a POW flag, each on individual poles and on my eves just under my roof line. I believe the American flag should be on the center pole and slightly higher but does it matter what side the Army and POW flag go on.
Hi, Gary: Thank you for your patriotism and this question. You could fly these all in a row at the same level, with the left-to-right order as you face them being Old Glory-Army-POW. With Old Glory in the center and slightly higher, Army would be on the left as you face them and POW on the right. Thanks again!
I was told the Flag could be left up at night and in inclement weather due to materials used to making the Flag. Is that true?
Is it allowed To display thebf again horizontally, like they do all the time, at sporting events, where people are stationed around the flag, hold the edges and march out on the field with it?

Hi, Randall: Although this practice may be of questionable taste, it would be considered "flag art" and thus OK. Thanks for asking!
