two questions:
when permanently lowering the flag, is it inappropriate to sing the national anthem before it is lowered? ( undergoing major construction at a community nonprofit)
And is it protocol to place your hand on your heart when singing the National Anthem?
Hi, Randi: No, it is OK to sing the National Anthem before lowering Old Glory. And yes, it is proper to hold your hand or hat over your heart while singing the National Anthem, although many can be forgiven for thinking that this was done only for the Pledge of Allegiance. Thanks for asking!
Is it appropriate to fly the "Freedom Flag" on the same pole beneath the US flag?
I was recently at a Ceremony where a Veteran and His Gold Star Family were being Honored by a group that was traveling to Arlington National- As part of the Ceremony The Family (ONLY) were asked to sign the flag if they wished to-Well the Happy looks on their faces was Second to None as they signed it- Now this flag as I said was being deliverd to Arlington
I understand and firmly believe any US flag per definition is to be respected and cared for. My mother thinks that also includes likenesses such as screen printed, embroidered or otherwise "created" images that do not have the specific characteristics of the actual flag but that are similar. There are lots of patriotic fabrics which I use to make stuff but never anything that a person would sit on or use as a cleaning item or even an apron bc that is intended to be soiled. So are images also to be treated like the actual flag? And weather....we have an all weather nylon flag with its own spotlight so I say it's ok 24/7 whereas mom wants it brought in every time it rains. Thank you.
The flag was not going to be displayed- I need help - Is this WRONG??
