How to Properly Display the American Flag
More Like This
American Flag patch on department uniforms.
The department which I work for, we were the US Flag patch on our right shoulder with stars forward. The patch is colored red, white and blue. We are changing our department patch to a gray/white and black color. We are looking at changing the US flag patch to colors which match the department patch. We see the US military with US flag patches in different colors.
Is there a Standard on Colors a US flag patch needs to be or are there options?
Thanks
American Flag & a Trump Flag flying on the same pole! Is this legal? Neighbor has one pole with the American Flag & A Trump flag in his back yard. Not a nice view!!
Mary Jane, I had the same question. It made my stomach turn to see this flag displayed by a neighbor. Politics aside, it felt wrong to defile the Stars and Stripes with the president's face. It reminds me of the propaganda displayed in North Korea. I don't think a rainbow flag draws the same argument, as it is not replacing the red, white, and blue with different colors. It is an entirely different design.
As long as the American Flag is on the top of the display, it is appropriate. Not agreeing with a person's political viewpoint does not change that. If it were a rainbow flag, it would still be appropriate for them to fly it as long as it was in the proper order.
Should the U S Flag be stored overnight draped over a bench inside a State government building?
If the flag was on the pole when it was raining, then it would make sense that is be lowered in the proper manner, then folded and moved inside. Once it is inside, then once again, it would make sense for it to be opened and allowed to dry, especially if the flag was not going to be flown for a day or two. As long as it does not lay on or drag across the floor, it should be fine. Also, it must be handles in a respectful manner and spread open, so that it is allowed to dry properly.
I was wondering if the popular "Blue Line" flag (American flag in black and white except for one blue line) to honor police officers is proper etiquette for the flag. I think it is well-intentioned, but not proper. What do you think?
I don't think they are appropriate. Police officers are just people, like the rest of us. They shouldn't have their own version of the American Flag.
My city has three poles, as you look at them, the left is the state flag with the US Flag in the middle and the city flag on the right. The city is flying a second flag which I have no idea what it is for below the US Flag while the State Flag is flying on it's own pole. Is this okay or should the flag below the US Flag be moved over to the State Flag pole?
