How to Properly Display the American Flag
More Like This
Hi, Dennis: Thanks for this great question. This is not necessarily true. In some cases, such as on a military vehicle or uniform, Old Glory's blue union can be seen on the right side of the vehicle or person's right side to symbolize the flag blowing backward as they charge into the fray. At most other times, though—for example, on the side of a fire truck in a parade—Old Glory's blue union would remain on the left even if on the right side of the "vehicle." Thanks again!
Hi, Sarah: We think that you and your son are correct. At the same time, though, we would point out that there are almost an infinite number of ways out there in which folks are doing the wrong thing with regard to Old Glory when all they are trying to do is the right thing—so it's often the thought that counts. Thanks for being so patriotic to ask!
