How to Properly Display the American Flag

If you are unable to fly the flag at half staff on Memorial Day, is it better to fly at full staff or take the flag down and properly store it until you are able to fly the next day at full staff?
You may use black streamers on a flag that cannot be lowered to indicate mourning. This would be for a wall mounted flag with a short pole. This is the equivalent of flying at half staff.
We have a flag with lights on it at my work place. No one will be around on Memorial Day to lower, then raise the flag. Should we lower it Saturday and raise it Tuesday, or leave it up through Memorial Day?
Thanks.
I have a small (12 x 18) Blue Line flag to place at the cemetery at my brother's grave (police officer killed in line of duty); also have a small US flag to place there, also; is there a particular place each one should be? The grave marker is flat, on ground.
Thank you!
Hi, Terri: We salute your brother and thank you for honoring him by caring so much. This is complicated. If Old Glory is at least 12 x 18, then she would be placed at the top left corner of his marker as you faced it (closest to the first letter of the first word), with any other flag at the other top corner. If Old Glory is smaller than 12 x 18, then it would stay where it is, but the other flag would move to the bottom right corner, closest to your right foot. Thanks for asking!
Can you point out where in the flag code it states how big a flag should be in relation to the height of the flag pole? I remember reading somewhere that the width of the flag should be no more than 1/4 to 1/3 of the height of the flag pole, but I can't seem to find it.
