What law or regulation covers how a flag that is put on display on a flag pole should be treated if it becomes worn and torn?
We have a veterans group in our community that meets regularly for breakfast, coffee etc. The leader of the group ordered shirts with flags embroidered on the sleeve almost near the elbow. I knew that was incorrect and refused to wear it and requested a shirt without a flag and have been labeled as unpatriotic. Is there any correct way for a flag to be worn on a shirt by a veterans group.
We have a flagpole at our home and fly both the U.S. and state flags. Are we required to lower our flags when the Governor or President decrees public flags be lowered?
Hi, Lisa: If you are asking whether private flags should follow the same protocols as public ones regarding half-staff, the answer is yes, they normally should. However, while the president can order public flags to be lowered, he or she can only request or suggest that private ones follow suit, as all private actions regarding Old Glory are protected by Freedom of Speech. Thanks for asking!
My understanding of display of the American flag at half-staff on Memorial Day then raised at noon to full staff, other days of half-staff are: Peace Officers Memorial Day, Patriot Day, National Firefighters Memorial Day, and Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.
Our church displays the American flag continually every day. my veteran friend says it should be lowered to half-staff on veterans' day. I disagree. who is right?
When the American Flag touches the ground should it be destroyed,
Should everyone stand in an auditorium when the flag passes by with their hands over their hearts?
