Hearty and healthy, oats are wonderful in both sweet and savory recipes. See five wonderful ways to cook with oats, from oatmeal cookies and pancakes to oatmeal meatballs and stuffed chicken breasts.

Oats are a force to be reckoned with. They’re much higher in protein than other grains, packed with fiber and nutrients, inexpensive, and delicious with a creamy, nutty, sweet flavor. Plus they retain moisture well in baking which is why they make for an awesome oatmeal cookie! 

Here are five ways to cook with oats, including three recipes from the Almanac “Oatmeal Recipe Contest” held in years’ past.

Swedish Oatmeal Pancakes

Cranberry Oatmeal

I like Oatmeal with Raisins but as I age it is beginning not to like me as much. Then one morning I remembered eating Oatmeal Raisin cookies where they added Craisins or Cranberry's dehydrated into a Raisin form. I then exchanged the Raisins with Craisins but then went a step further. I was using 1-Minute Oatmeal so I exchanged the Water for Cranberry Juice. WOW! Now I am happy but so is my Urologist! :D
