I just got one as a present. I got it a week ago and the flowers are wrinkled but the leaves areperfectly fine. It's in a pot And I don't have space to plant it out side. What should I do?
I live in Portland, Oregon....
My roommate bought 3 different colors of hyacinths and planted them in a brick planter in the front of the house along with some pansies....
They are dying now as she took advice from my other roommate on watering....Too much watering... :o(
Will the hyacinths come back or are they a lost cause and be thrown away....
Please clarify....Thanks
Hi, Cathy,
Did the hyacinths bloom? If so, they may simply be dying back (not to death; just to dormancy).
If the brink planter holds water, or a container set in it holds water, the bulbs may have drowned. Give it a few more days or a week. If they became water logged, they would be mushy and, as you say, a lost cause.
But it may be too early to tell.
I planted a Hyacinth in my backyard last fall, it has bloomed. I live in South TX, I am in zone 9. My plant bloomed and I will wait till the leaves turn a yellow color before either....digging it up or leaving it in the ground. My friend told me I had to dig it up. If I put it in the refrigerator, do I put in some ground and can I then place it in a plastic bag till this fall or what do I need to do to have it come up next spring? Thx so much.
I Still am interested to find out when I refrigerate my bulbs, do I leave dirt on bulb and just put it in a plastic bag till Fall in SE TX.or do I put it in dirt and put bulb, pot with dirt all in the refrigerator...Thx.
Thank you for telling e how to take care of storing my bulbs so I have them next year
All you need is the bulb. No dirt,no pot or bowl.
Thx for the help. Plan on moving shortly. Everyone has a different answer as to winter storage of bulbs. Refrigerator, basement, cool dark place, in dirt, no dirt. Right now 12 bulbs are sitting alone without dirt in a pot in the basement.
