This sounds like the recipe my Mom used to make. She called it " Fresh Apple Cake ". She cooked it in a Bundt or tube pan and it would develop a tasty crust on top. You could drizzle a topping on it, or not. It was delicious right out of the pan.
There are tons apple varieties. What kind of apple is used in this recipe. It's an important detail that is left out of the information.
Hi, Julie. You can use any apple that is good for baking. Go to our handy apple chart that tells you what the best apples are for different purposes. Choose one that is good for pie.
I am a "depression baby". I remember my mother making this cake often while I was still at home. She called it "Cooked Cake"! And I remember her sending it to me when I was away at college. It is very moist and keeps well. She baked it in a loaf pan.
I noticed that the recipe does not call for milk or oil. Just want to confirm
the recipe ingredients are correct. I am planning on making this today.
Thanks
