Super yummy cake! Shared the cake with friends and it was a hit! I used salted butter and gala apples and followed the recipe as written.
Does it matter if one uses salted or unsalted butter in the recipe? If I use salted butter, do I delete the half teaspoon of salt that is mentioned in the directions? Thx.
Hi, Carol. You can use either salted or unsalted butter. You do not have to omit the salt if you use salted butter. If it was a higher amount of salt we woud recommend that, but not here. Enjoy!
Husband is on his 2nd helping, says its fantastic with or without ice cream! I have a deep dish pie plate, i think i could double the recipe.
With all ingredients on hand, it's in the oven now.
Lower temp with glass pan, right?
Thanks for answering my earlier?

Hi, Jill. If you go to our apple chart, you will see which apples to use depending on what you are making—pie, applesauce, etc.
This sounds like the recipe my Mom used to make. She called it " Fresh Apple Cake ". She cooked it in a Bundt or tube pan and it would develop a tasty crust on top. You could drizzle a topping on it, or not. It was delicious right out of the pan.
There are tons apple varieties. What kind of apple is used in this recipe. It's an important detail that is left out of the information.
